The Step Up Days concluded with a meaningful experience that allowed the students to spend a full day as Lower Secondary learners. From the moment they arrived, the children approached the day with curiosity, ready to discover what daily life in middle school might look like.

Throughout the day, the students took part in lessons led by Lower Secondary teachers, engaging in science activities, interactive language tasks, creative arts, and collaborative problem-solving. Each session was designed to be practical and engaging, giving the children a clear sense of the learning style and expectations typical of lower secondary education. Several students noted small differences from primary school—new subjects, a different rhythm, and a more structured approach to work.

The experience also encouraged them to develop autonomy and organisational skills, as they followed a real school timetable and adapted to the flow of the day. Initial uncertainty gradually gave way to a growing sense of familiarity as the students understood how the new environment functions.

In addition, today the students joined an initiative organised by the Student Council: for today’s Spirit Day, the chosen theme was hip hop. The children embraced the theme wholeheartedly, dressing in hip hop style and leaving their school uniforms at home for the day. This added an extra layer of fun and self-expression to the experience, allowing the students to enjoy a creative and lively atmosphere alongside their learning.

The “Live the Life of a Lower Secondary Student” day is an important step in the orientation process, designed to make the transition from primary to middle school smoother and more transparent. By experiencing authentic activities and interacting with the teaching style of Lower Secondary, the children gained a clearer idea of what to expect in the coming year.

At the end of the day, the students returned to their classroom with thoughtful reflections and a better understanding of the journey ahead. They left with a more grounded and confident perception of what their future school life will be like, making this experience a valuable and memorable part of their transition to Lower Secondary.
