Today, our school in Rosà had the pleasure of hosting Luigi Dal Cin, one of the most active and appreciated Italian authors in the field of children’s literature. With over 100 published books translated into 14 languages, Dal Cin has received numerous awards, including the Andersen Prize and the Troisi Prize.
Author meetings organized by Dal Cin are true theatrical events, in which he actively engages students, stimulating their creativity and passion for reading. These moments not only promote reading but also offer the opportunity to explore narrative techniques and the art of writing.
This is exactly what happened today with the students of the Lower Secondary School. The meeting began with a very entertaining first part that immediately captured everyone’s attention, and then, through the telling of a story that really happened to the author, it addressed more serious and important themes such as inclusion and disability. The students participated actively, asking questions and sparking deep reflections.
The importance of reading and writing as tools capable of generating emotions and powerful enough to change the world was also emphasized. A strong message that the students will carry with them: reading and writing are not just study tools, but means to understand, express oneself, and make a difference.
The initiative stems from the desire to guide students on a journey of self-awareness, helping them recognize their emotions, strengths, and vulnerabilities, and develop the ability to relate to others in an authentic and empathetic way.
The meeting concluded with a brief presentation of his book Sulla porta del mondo, which addresses the theme of immigration, telling stories of journeys and new beginnings. It was a meaningful opportunity to bring to the forefront of students’ attention highly relevant and valuable themes: welcome, respect, inclusion, and active citizenship.
