The “Healthy Eating – You Are What You Eat” project, started on November 13 with fourth and fifth graders learning about the food pyramid and the Mediterranean diet, continued today with a session for third-grade students.
Dr. Federica Zara, dietitian from Euroristorazione, led the workshop, guiding the children through fun, hands-on activities to explore healthy eating and make thoughtful food choices.
The students discussed what makes a snack “tasty” versus “healthy”, discovering that something that tastes good isn’t always good for their bodies. Through examples and interactive activities, they learned how a healthy snack can give energy, support growth, and be enjoyable at the same time—without relying on too much sugar or processed ingredients.
The workshop also encouraged the children to think about how food, exercise, and sustainability are connected, introducing ideas from the 2030 Agenda in an age-appropriate way.
To wrap up the session, the children shared a healthy snack provided by Dr. Zara, turning what they had learned into a real-life experience and enjoying a moment of community and fun.
The project will continue with the remaining classes, helping all students discover how healthy choices can be both delicious and good for the planet.
