Dear Parents,

We would like to inform you that on Thursday, March 26, LS2 students will take part in an educational trip to Venice. During the visit, students will explore the Jewish Ghetto and participate in the “Nick and Vera” workshop, which includes an interactive reading about the true story of children saved through the Kindertransport.

In addition, thanks to Prof. Ceschin, students will have the special opportunity to visit the Orsoni Furnace, which has been producing glass enamel and gold-leaf mosaics since 1888, preserving this unique craft tradition for over a century.

Purpose of the trip

  • To promote understanding of the city’s historical, cultural, and artistic heritage
  • To encourage awareness of cultural diversity and historical memory
  • To highlight the value of local craftsmanship and artistic traditions

Learning Objectives

  • To learn about the history of the Venetian Jewish community through a visit to the Jewish Ghetto
  • To reflect on themes of intercultural coexistence
  • To explore the Venetian mosaic tradition through a visit to the Orsoni Furnace
  • To understand the techniques used in glass enamel and gold-leaf mosaic production, and the importance of Venetian craftsmanship

Practical Information
Departure from Bassano del Grappa train station at 8:47 a.m. (students are asked to arrive by 8:20 a.m. to ensure an on-time departure).

  • 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.: Visit to the Jewish Ghetto and workshop
  • 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.: Visit to the Orsoni Furnace

Return at 5:12 p.m. to Bassano del Grappa train station.

A packed lunch will be provided by the school.

Students will be accompanied by teachers Michell S. Lucato and Marta Grigoletto.

Please note that this trip is part of the school curriculum and counts as a regular school day conducted off-site. If a student does not attend, the absence will be recorded in the school register.
