Dear Parents,

We would like to inform you that on Wednesday, April 29th, a boat trip has been organized for class PS5 to the islands of Torcello, Murano, and Burano.

Purpose of the trip:
The aim of this outing is to introduce students to the typical lagoon landscape and to promote the discovery and appreciation of the historical, cultural, and artisanal traditions of the Veneto region.
Through direct observation of the natural environment and human activities, students will be able to:

  • Develop environmental awareness by observing the flora, fauna, and characteristics of the lagoon landscape;
  • Understand the interaction between humans and the environment, also from a historical perspective, by visiting the ancient center of Torcello;
  • Learn about and appreciate traditional crafts, such as glassmaking in Murano and lace-making in Burano;
  • Value the local cultural heritage through direct and meaningful experiences.

This experience represents an important moment of active learning, particularly connected to the subject of geography, and contributes to the development of observation skills, citizenship, and respect for natural and cultural heritage.

Educational objectives:

  • Observe and describe the lagoon landscape, identifying its main physical and environmental features, including natural and human elements;
  • Recognize the interaction between the natural environment and human intervention, understanding how people have adapted to and modified the territory;
  • Acquire historical and geographical knowledge through visits to places significant to the history of the Venetian Lagoon;
  • Learn about and appreciate local artisanal traditions by observing glass and lace production firsthand;
  • Improve observation and active listening skills through field activities and guided reflection;
  • Encourage socialization, collaboration, and respect for rules in an out-of-school context;
  • Stimulate curiosity and motivation to learn through concrete, multisensory, and engaging experiences.

Organizational details:

  • Departure from school at 7:00 a.m. (please be punctual)
  • Boarding at Porte Grandi at 9:00 a.m.
  • Return to school at approximately 5:00–5:30 p.m.
  • Packed lunch provided by the school

There will be the opportunity, for those who wish, to purchase small souvenirs.
Please note that iPads and cameras are not allowed.

Students are required to wear the school uniform and comfortable shoes and to bring in a backpack:

  • a morning snack
  • a water bottle
  • a light rain jacket
  • a sun hat
  • tissues
  • sunscreen

Please note that this activity is part of the school’s educational outings and is therefore considered a regular school day held outside the school premises. In case of non-participation, the absence will be recorded in the electronic register.
