Dear Parents,
We would like to inform you that a field trip to the “La Greppia” Farm has been organized for the PS1 class on Tuesday, May 19th.
The educational program for the students will be “Little Farmers Discovering the Secret Stable,” which includes the “From Little Farmers to Little Cheesemakers” workshop and a creative clay workshop. During the guided tour, the children will explore the farm and meet the cows, learning about their diet, the milking process, and the journey of milk, leading up to the production and tasting of yogurt.
Recommendations:
We recommend that children wear a pair of boots or hiking shoes and bring a pair of clean shoes to change into for the return bus ride. Additionally, due to variable weather, please ensure they have a K-way (rain jacket) in their backpack. The backpack should be large enough to also hold their packed lunch.
Aims of the Trip:
- To encourage direct contact with nature and the rural world, stimulating children’s curiosity and respect for the environment, animals, and natural cycles of food production.
- To connect practical experience to classroom learning, making concepts related to food education, science, and sustainability more concrete.
Educational Objectives:
- To understand, through direct experience, the origin of everyday food items (e.g., yogurt).
- To develop attitudes of respect and care toward animals and the environment.
- To engage the five senses through product tasting, stimulating curiosity and exploration.
- To strengthen observation, listening, and reflection skills regarding the experience.
Organizational Details:
Departure from H-IS Rosà by bus: 9:00 AM
Return: 3:30 PM
Lunch: A packed lunch will be provided by the school.
The children will be accompanied by their class teachers.
Please be reminded that this activity is an integral part of the school curriculum; therefore, it is a regular lesson held off-site. In the event of non-participation, the absence will be recorded on the electronic register.
